BELL & MELAMED, LLC was formed by Jeffrey M. Bell and Douglas B. Melamed. Together, they share over thirty-five (35) years of litigation experience and strive to sustain a high standard of professionalism in the representation of their clients with the utmost integrity and honor in the industry. The firm’s priority is to produce the highest quality of work product in the best interests of the client.

Jeffrey M. Bell

Jeffrey M. Bell (Member) was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on July 7, 1955. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in political science from Colgate University in 1977, he worked for a few years in the steel industry in Chicago and Detroit. Jeff then earned his law degree from Nova Southeastern University in 1983, where he served on the Law Review and Moot Court Society.

In over 27 years of practice in South Florida, Jeff has successfully represented a wide range of clients in commercial, product liability, insurance defense, medical and professional malpractice, construction defect, land use and general liability cases. Jeff has first chaired numerous jury cases to verdict and also has maintained an active appellate practice throughout his career.

Jeff continues to represent multiple manufacturing companies in defense of asbestos claims, both at the trial level and on appeal.

Jeff is admitted to the Florida Bar; the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida; and the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Miami Dade and Broward County Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute.


Douglas B. Melamed

Douglas Melamed (Member) was born in Suffern, New York on April 4, 1970 and raised in upstate New York. After graduating from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a degree comprised of studies in political science, history and philosophy, Douglas moved to South Florida where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Education and Sports Management from the University of Miami. Douglas spent several years working with the University of Miami Athletics Department before earning his law degree from Miami in 1998, where he received Litigation Skills Honors and was a member of the trial team that participated in national competitions.

In over 12 years of practice, Douglas has focused his practice in the field of civil litigation defense, including products liability, premises liability, construction litigation, liquor liability, wrongful death claims, medical malpractice, and admiralty/maritime claims. His practice also includes commercial litigation, collections, and coverage analysis for insurance companies. He has successfully represented a diverse group of clientele including child care centers, taverns/bars, roofers, general contractors, fire sprinkler companies, health care institutions, commercial plazas, security companies, product manufacturers, and insurers.

Douglas is admitted to the Florida Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern, and Middle Districts of Florida; U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, and is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Broward County Bar Association.


Lynn Sharon

Lynn Sharon has been a practicing attorney for over 25 years. She began her legal career as a law clerk for Federal District Judge Stewart Newblatt in Michigan. This position allowed her the opportunity to research and write legal opinions for the court. Since that time she has worked for several prominent insurance defense and commercial litigation firms.

In addition, Lynn has handled a multitude of litigation cases in the insurance defense and commercial litigation fields including contract disputes, premises liability and construction defect matters. Lynn also brings a wealth of experience to Bell & Melamed in handling matters relating to health care litigation. She has represented many medical professionals in complex litigation, including several health care providers that work within the prison and mental health facilities located throughout the state of Florida.

Lynn is an AV rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell. She has extensive experience handling cases through trial and has litigated over 30 jury trials. She has been the recipient of the Law Week Award by the Florida Bar. She has also had opinions published in the Southern Reporter based upon appellate briefs she has filed. Lynn frequently mentors law students and has participated as a judge for the moot court competition held at Nova University on many occasions.
